Introducing Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, the Farnham based charity we are supporting here at The Castle Inn.
As some of our sister pubs in Red Mist Leisure have done before us, we are delighted to be continuing the support of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care and the work they do in Farnham and across the whole of West Surrey and North East Hampshire.
Working with patients with advanced or terminal illness and their families, the hospice team believe that everyday is precious, helping manage their pain and improve the quality of life for those suffering and those around them.
Located on the outskirts of Farnham, the hospice was opened in 1979 by Sir Edward Tuckwell in collaboration with other notable founders, and named after his late wife, Phyllis Tuckwell.
Today, Phyllis Tuckwell has cared for over 550,000 residents and continues to support 250 patients every day through three channels; their in-patient unit in Farnham; the Care at Home and Hospice Care at Home teams; the Living Well services which includes the Day Hospice.
With just 20% of costs covered by the government, Phyllis Tuckwell relies on the support of the community to help generate the £20,000 per day needed to keep offering the services and much needed support they currently provide.
With your help, we are contributing towards their fundraising target through a number of initiatives in the pub:
- 10p of every pint of Red Mist Ale sold is donated
- Fundraising events throughout the year
- Collection tins on the bar for your spare change (or notes!)
